Scope:
This process only applies to the testing of Dual Core laptops for Wholesale. Do not inventory failed laptop.
1. Prepare Work Area
Clean up all previously worked on items. Make sure your bench is free of debris and random junk that does not serve any purpose
Get tools ready: Small Box to collect extra memory, AC adapters, USB keyboard , multi-bit screw driver.
Familiarize yourself with the location of spare memory
Move one of the following Source Pallet to the working area.

Go over task with Supervisor, your supervisor will test 5-10 pc’s completing the whole process from start to finish while you watch.
2. Put Away Pallet
For wholesale pass Test: #1069 WHOLESALE: LAPTOPS for Dual Core Laptop
Failed Test or Low value: #1073 UNITS PENDING HARD DRIVE REMOVAL
Scrap:
- Keyboard is missing.
- Missing more than 1 keys on keyboard or bad keyboard.
- Missing bottom cover.
- Missing ODD face plate.
- Does not power on or POST.
- Broken hinge.
- Defective LCD(cracked, no backlight and more than 2 dark or light spots.)
- Splash Screen can not remove.
- Parts missing or broken.
Replace these pallets when they fill up.
3. Get Laptops From Source Pallet
Get Laptop from source pallet.
4. Value Check Machine
- Dual core laptops that sold for $100 and more will go to eBay. No need to value check all dual core laptops. Some laptops need quick value check if:
- Have windows 10 sticker
- ODD is Blu-ray
- 17” and above
- Some certain series like Dell XPS, Alienware, Lenovo Yoga, Ideapad.
- Laptop sold for $100 and more without HDD will test and go to eBay.
- Laptop for eBay will use All Other Laptop Testing for testing.
5.Wipe Hard drive
- Wipe all hard drives before testing.
- If Laptop will go to eBay, use kill disk for wiping and record Bad Block and Health after wiping.
- If Laptop will go to wholesale, use DBAN for wiping.

6.Testing
- Only record working Laptop, Do not click Next button if not working.
- Do not Spend more than 10 minutes per laptop.
- Do not run diagnostic.
- Do not record scrap laptop.
- Common Key for enter BIOS setup.
- Dell: F2
- Lenovo: F1 or Enter then F1
- HP: F10 or Esc then F10
- Most other brand: F2 or Del
Create a “Dummy Item” before first item in Gaylord for Wholesale Laptop with Pallet #MMDDYY.
Make & Model
- Brand: Laptop Brand, for example: Dell, HP.
- Series: Laptop series, for example: XPS, Inspiron, Pavilion.
- Model: Laptop Model.
- Serial Number: Use barcode scanner first to record serial number if available.
Inspect The Machine
- Check Ports: Check all ports front and back, record any damaged port/s.
- Check The Case: Check case to see any damages.
- Battery: Included or not
- Hinges: Damaged or not
Testing
- Powers on: Does laptop powers on? if not, check cable connection, try another AC adapter.
- POST: Does laptop POST to BIOS? If not, replace RAM. Some laptop only working with low voltage RAM.
- Optical Drive: Eject optical drive, remove any media. Scrap if missing face plate.
- Screen: Check for screen condition.
- Property of splash
- BIOS password
CPU
- CPU Brand: Intel or AMD
- CPU Model: Record CPU model. For example: Pentium Dual-Core, Core 2 Dual, A6-5400K.
- CPU Speed: Record CPU speed. Use CPU base speed.
- CPU Speed Type: GHz or MHz
RAM
- Total RAM: Record Installed RAM amount.
- RAM Type: GB or MB
Hard Drives
- Physically check for hard drive even BIOS display no hard drive.
- Number of Hard drives installed.
- Hard drive size: Record hard drive size.
- HDD storage type: GB or TB
- Hard drive wiped
COA
- Choose from list, if not there, choose none.
- Windows 7 COA:
- Windows 8 :
- Windows 10:
- If COA product key is damaged , choose None.
Condition
- Default will be Grade B
- If unit has missing parts or lot of scratches, choose Grade C
Notes
- Record damages.
- Record missing parts
- Do not over describe it.
Double Check your work
- Do not submit until you double checked your work.
- Make sure all the specs on label match the specs in BIOS.
- Only record specs what you see in BIOS, Do not assume.
7. Print Label
- Double check specs again after print label.
8. Submit
- Submit to database by click submit button.
9. Put away
- For wholesale pass Test: #1069 WHOLESALE: LAPTOPS
- Failed Test: #1073 UNITS PENDING HARD DRIVE REMOVAL
- Call for layer check when layer has been filled up. Make sure physical number is match database number.
- Fill gap by used stretch wrap or foam.
- Put Foam when start a new layer
10. Go to next one.
Troubleshooting
PC does not power on
- Make sure all power cable connections are plugged in firmly.
- Try another AC adapter for test.
PC powers on but no POST (Beeps or not)
- Reseat memory module or try different memory module, one stick at time to check if there is a bad DIMM slot.
- Beep codes verify by brand and model, use google search for a short research
Optical drive is not eject
- If the optical drive will not open use paper clip, ask your supervisor if you don’t know how to do this.
- Remove any discs found and place in the #1010 SCRAP: OPTICAL DISC
- If any of the drives are bad or will not open this needs to be mentioned in the notes field of the spec label.
