Warehouse Opening and Closing (SOP)

Warehouse opening procedure

Arrive at the warehouse no later than 7:50 AM or agreed upon time by Farai. Use the front office door & open the door with the assigned key.

Turn on Front office lights, switch by front door, light switch #1. Turn on warehouse lights at light switch #2.

Turn on the Thermostat to cool in summer or heat in winter, by the laptop wiping station, do not change other settings like temperature or schedule, this can be the different between a $300 bill or $900 power bill…

Proceed to back of warehouse, Remove the security bar from the rear EXIT DOOR, place the security bar to the right side of the door on the corner, leave the door locked by making sure the door lever button is pressed in, door should always be locked by pressing the lever button in sunless if someone is outside.

Warehouse closing procedure (End of day, going to lunch or last person leaving)

1. Make it known you are leaving (If there any are other employees left)

Notify Farai of anything that hinders the instructions below.
Make a radio announcement that you are leaving, unless you are the last person left. When turning the lights off, turning off fans and locking doors, make sure nobody is left back in the warehouse, do a final sweep.

Start the steps below AFTER you are alone in the warehouse, all employees must vacate the building when notified that it is closing time. Double check the doors and latches, after the other individual(s) leaves, if you are in the back with another person.

1.A Check the warehouse bay door latches

Pull down the warehouse bay door if it is open until it makes contact with the floor, Secure the sliding latches located at the bottom corners of warehouse bay door. If door is already closed double check and secure the latches.

1.B Attach the security bar to the rear EXIT DOOR.

The rear EXIT DOOR security bar must be installed whenever the last person leaves the warehouse for any period of time.
Both of the bolt pegs need to be in the hole through the bar on the door and sticking out of the bottom. Do not leave it with only 1 of the bolt pegs going through the hole.

Check fork lift, 

Make the battery charger is disconnected from forklift or make sure the battery is disconnected.

Check Electric Pallet Jack

Make sure the electric pallet jack charger is disconnected, also make sure the pallet jack is turned off.

1.B Turn the lights and fans off

Do a final sweep checking all the isles working your way from back of warehouse to the front, checking all warehouse isles.

Turn of all lights in the warehouse light switch #2.

Turn off all standalone fans and (except for the hard drive wiping station fan, if its on).

Close middle warehouse door, this door must remain closed at all times.

Do a final sweep checking all offices and restrooms.

Turn Off the laptop wiping station thermostat.

Turn off lights in the listing room, testing room and server room & all and any fans (except for the laptop wiping station fan, if its on)..

Turn off front office light switch.

1.C Lock front door

Lock front door by turning the key until the lock is engaged, remove the key, pull on door several times to make sure the door is locked.

Note: Last person leaving the building for any period of time must lock the back door, attach security bar and lock the front door on their way out (unless if the truck is out on a pick up, just lock the door, do not attach the bar). You do not have to turn off the thermostat if leaving for an hour and coming back e.g to get lunch, but warehouse must be locked down.
