Per the customer’s request, some pickups must record serial numbers or destroy the hard drives before processing. There are 2 different ways to record the serial number, based on customer request, Use the appropriate way.

For Device and storage serial record(Most time)

Pre-Sort

• Before recording the serial number, pickup needs to be pre-sorted first.
• Get a count of devices by item type when pre-sorting.
• Put devices into another vessel. Do not put it away.

Record item type & serial number

• The second person will record the serial number by using AMP.
• Go to AMP click View Existing Service Request find the pickup number then click Generate &
  Email COD
• 
• On the Generate & Email COD page, choose item type and Methods of Destruction, scan the unit serial number and asset Tag then click the Add item Type button.
• Must use a barcode scanner to scan the serial number to avoid human error.
• 
• Make sure to click the save button for every entry and scroll up to confirm the Certificate of destruction saved.
• 
• If an unexpected error occurred after clicking the save button. just refresh the page and re-add the entry.
• 
• Put all devices into another speedpack for QC. Do not put it away before QC.

Number Confirmation

• After recording all devices, have a list of device QTY. Compare the QTY with the pre-sort list first, and make sure the QTY is matching.
• Call management for QC to confirm the device QTY is accurate and all hard drives removed as needed.

Data Destruction

• If the customer requests for data destruction, all Hard drives need to be destroyed after QC.

Note

• When removing hard drives from a server or NAS unit. Take out all hard drives with caddies at once. Do not pull one at a time.
