eCommerce team’s testing requirements for machines to be sent to eBay

We now have a list of approved instructions from the eCommerce team for sending items to eBay. The processes below outline what they expect the PC Techs to perform before we send items over. Please review these requirements carefully!

Laptops for eBay

1. Wait for eCommerce to preselect the machines they want. If eCommerce instead asks the PC Tech team to make the selection on their behalf, value check for a price of sold at a minimum of $150 in a similar condition.
2. Inspect the laptop and remove the asset tag if it has one.
3. Make sure you only leave 1 hard drive in the laptop.
4. Wiping (checking for Absolute/Computrace and removing if active).
5. Installing OS
6. DO NOT include ANY notes other than observations of screen burn-in and system error from previous user.
7. DO NOT conduct an autopilot check
8. Once final label is created, give to Team Lead for one last inspection, to be sent to eBay

Single-core laptops (vintage)

• Do not test any. The eCommerce team will be fully handling these devices themselves.

Servers

1. Value check for sold ≥ $200 and $4 per LB. This includes all sizes of rackmount servers, from full-depth 4Us to half-depth 1Us.
2. Check and remove asset tag. Inspect the server for water damage, proper connection, and damaged components.
3. Remove all storage.
4. Small dents or deep scratches are find damaged ports or large physical damage or rust will cut value by at least 50% when value check.
5. Blow out dust if the server will go to eBay
6. Photograph and upload the diagnostic testing result only. upload picture to Photo database / repository
7. DO NOT include any notes with server.
8. DO NOT conduct an autopilot check.
9. Apply the
10. Put on pallet to send to eBay

Workstations

1. Value check for sold ≥ $100 and $4 per LB.
2. Checking for Absolute/Computrace and removing if active
3. Photograph and upload the diagnostic testing result only. Upload picture to Photo database / repository
4. DO NOT include any notes with workstation.
5. DO NOT conduct an autopilot check.
6. Once finished, apply the 1×1 label that indicates a diagnostic testing photo has been uploaded or that there is no onboard diagnostic.
7. Put on pallet to send to eBay

Full-tower, mid-tower, or SFF PCs that include storage

1. Value check for sold ≥ $100 and $4 per LB for Ryzen and $300 or higher for Intel iSeries
2. Wiping (checking for Absolute/Computrace and removing if active)
3. Installing OS
4. DO NOT include any notes with PC.
5. DO NOT conduct an autopilot check.
6. Once final label is created, give to Team Lead for one last inspection, to be sent to eBay.

Micro/mini PCs that include storage

1. Value check for sold ≥ $100 and $4 per LB for Ryzen and $300 or higher for Intel iSeries
2. Wiping (checking for Absolute/Computrace and removing if active)
3. Installing OS
4. DO NOT include any notes with micro/mini PC.
5. DO NOT conduct an autopilot check.
6. Once final label is created, give to Team Lead for one last inspection, to be sent to eBay.

PC without storage (older PCs where it would not make sense for us to include storage, or otherwise)

• Value check for sold ≥ $100 and $4 per LB
• eCommerce has proposed two different options for these types of machines.
  1. PC Techs do not record any specs/test these machines whatsoever
  2. PC Techs record completely test and record all specs and supply 100% of notes for these machines, recording all details in notes.
• PC Techs should default to not testing these machines and passing them through to eCommerce for their team to test since they have had a much higher success rate of finding all the notes that need to be added. We don’t want to have machines returned for not having sufficient notes. PC Techs should only test/record the specs of these machines if we are specifically requested to work on these machines in the event that the eCommerce team does not have the bandwidth to work on these machines themselves.

Apple Laptop

1. Wipe laptop
2. Reinstalling OS
3. Check for remote management
4. DO NOT run diagnostics
5. Take photos of the OS and motherboard.
6. Leave a note as needed.

Apple Laptops that will be sold as only the housing with no logic board (eCommerce team will now be disassembling themselves)

1. Do not test the laptop.
2. Simply send over to eBay, including any notes/instructions that may be necessary such as if the customer requested we record serial numbers, etc.
3. Also include notes regarding WHY the logic boards need to be removed (e.g. remote managed).
4. Include any other critical information in notes that the eCommerce team would need before they will remove the logic board. Once it is done, it’s done!
